{Can Google find you? Is your website responsive?}

On 21 April 2015, Google launched its mobile-friendly algorithm 'Mobilegeddon' update worldwide, which is estimated to affect a large percentage of mobile search queries. The update will separate mobile searches from Desktop searches - prioritising mobile friendly sites. This means, websites that are not mobile friendly will possibly rank lower when the search is performed on a mobile device.

Google is no doubt the most popular search engine worldwide. Google processes more than 40,000 search queries every second, which translates to over 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion searches per year worldwide, as reported by Internet Live Stats. In Australia, of all Search Engines used on all devices, Google reaches a market share of 93.6%.

Statistics from comScore suggest more than half of all Google searches are made from a mobile device - customers simply expect that a company's mobile site works as effectively as the website from a desktop computer. This Google Algorithm update can therefore have a quite negative impact on your business website, if your site is not responsive.

To eliminate any negative consequences on your website traffic, do the 'Mobile-Friendly Test' by Google to assess your site.
