{The Hubba Hubba colouring book}

We ended 2015 designing and making our creative mindfulness colouring book ‘Hubba Hubba’ for our clients as a special Christmas gift.

Our awesome designers, Rosa and Husveen, poured their passion for what they do into this book and their individuality and character has shone through. We incorporated our clients into the book, adding in ‘find the logo’ and ‘spot the hubster’ tasks for a little added fun and relaxation.

Each page features intricate colouring in designs for our clients (ok so we got a copy each too!) to sit down, with a cool drink and take a break from all those screens and to do lists that govern so many aspects of our lives.

We spoke to Rosa and Husveen to find out more:

What is your favourite aspect of graphic designing?

R: My favourite part of the design process is the challenge of having to think in a more abstract way than you normally would in your everyday life. This involves coming up with unique solutions to often quite complex design problems. I visual communication plays a crucial role in connecting with an audience.

H: My favourite part is contributing creatively to a variety of different projects through various mediums of publication, branding and web design. I think design is a very important aspect of marketing in ensuring that the messages are effectively communicated in an engaging and innovative way.

What were some of the highlights of designing the Hubba Hubba colouring book?

R: I have a background in illustration, so for me this was a rare opportunity to use those skills for a fun cause! I’ve always been passionate about art and spend a lot of my spare time illustrating, so creating the Hubba Hubba colouring book didn’t really feel like work!

H: Getting complete freedom to create whatever designs and illustrations we wanted to and then figuring out how to hide all the little icons.

Love the little cartoons of the hubsters, do you have a favourite?

R: My favourite is Jask’s character – I find it challenging drawing male characters, so I was pretty happy with how it came out!

H: I love all of them to be honest! But I do particularly love Nic’s scuba diving costume.

There are some amazingly complex images to colour in, which image took you the longest to design?

R: The Kookaburra – all those feathers!

H: The Cow took me the longest because of all the intricate patterns.

Below are some examples of our clients’ awesome work of colouring in the cover of this book:
