{Celebrating WA Small Business Day!}

The inaugural Small Business Day, which happened on Saturday 11 July 2015, is the start of a state-wide movement - working to raise the profile and increase awareness of the small business sector in Western Australia.

This 'Think Small First' initiative celebrates and recognises the entrepreneurial spirit and the contribution that small business makes to the WA economy and local community.

Small Business Matters was cofounded by Nicolle Jenkins and Kitty Prodonovich - both inspiring entrepreneurs from the small business sector in Western Australia. Kitty says, "I know first-hand that small business is fun, stressful, exciting, hard work, all-consuming and unbelievably rewarding. I also know that small businesses make a big difference to everyone, every day."

Small businesses are at the heart of what makes our local communities great. There are more than 210,000 small businesses which represents a massive 97% of all WA business. They employ nearly half of ALL employees in this state. Small businesses also make up 43% of all goods exported. Small businesses are a huge part of our life.

We think it's time to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit and contribution small business makes to WA and to remind ourselves to Think Small First. Small Business Matters doesn't belong to anyone, rather is a movement. Kitty says, "It gives me and everyone else the chance to say thank you and for all of us to let small business owners know that we think they are pretty awesome."

Next year is already set to be bigger and better, so watch this space!
